Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us."

Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he."

The Samaritans were originally Jews, but over the years, they intermarried and made alliances and covenants outside of the boundaries of God's will.  They knew of God and sought after the Messiah, but they were looking on the wrong mountain and judging by the wrong criteria as to who, when, and where the Messiah would come. It is much the same even to this day.

Jesus told this woman, who was not living according to God's law, and who many people including the disciples would have considered as a worthless gentile , He told her that NOW the Father seeks those who worship in Spirit and Truth. He also said that NOW the Messiah was (and is) speaking to her to explain all things.

The emphasis for this note is NOW -

He is here NOW -and has given us his Spirit to teach us in all things (John 14:25)

He did not hesitate to bring this woman into the recognition and confession of her sin and weakness, but He gave her  a revelation of Himself which was the real desire of her heart, and He empowered her to bring her own town to the knowledge of the Lord!

He is still meeting people at their wells - the places where they gather for there own provision.

He is still pointing out our sins, and weaknesses, He confronts and destroys every misconception about Him that we carry with us. He tells us everything that we have ever done- He still is telling us not to look at this mountain, or that mountain.  He is not looking to live in great historical events, but He is looking to invade all of our mixture and live in us.

He is doing this NOW - the Father is seeking those whose worship is pure - goes all the way through and back - in Spirit and in truth.

this is for us NOW -

It is a very high call, but it is also an incredible provision and promise for all those who dare to believe that it is really NOW!! 

He is not far off, just look for Him at your own well, and do not fear or resist the words of Truth that He will speak.  When you know the Truth, the Truth will set you free just as it did for this woman of Samaria.
