The Men’s Finishing School is a study, fellowship, and discipling ministry facilitated by Associate Pastor Tom Marxen . This ministry is for all men willing to” keep working toward that day when we will finally be all that Christ saved us to be.” TLB Families have been under attack of the enemy of God for a long time in our country, it is all too common for marriages to disintegrate and children grow up in home situations where there is no father. Further, many times if there is a father , he does not posses any of the qualities or abilities that the Lord has given for godly fathers to be and do. We are entering into the second and sometime the third generation where there has been no modeling of men actually living as protector, provider, teacher, and example for their wives and children. The apostle Paul describes the role the husband this way:
Eph 5:25-29

And you husbands, show the same kind of love to your wives as Christ showed to the Church when he died for her, to make her holy and clean, washed by baptism and God's Word; so that he could give her to himself as a glorious Church without a single spot or wrinkle or any other blemish, being holy and without a single fault. That is how husbands should treat their wives, loving them as parts of themselves. For since a man and his wife are now one, a man is really doing himself a favor and loving himself when he loves his wife! No one hates his own body but lovingly cares for it, just as Christ cares for his body the Church, of which we are parts. TLB
When a child , either a boy or girl, has never seen or experienced this example, the concept of a safe, loving home is foreign to them. They develop other ways, destructive, controlling, addictive ways to try and meet their needs which they in turn display and pass on to the next generation. We have imbedded in our society the “hurt people” that “hurt people”system. The pattern and way of life the Lord has prepared is for the natural family to model and actually function like the Kingdom of Heaven. In this way, learning and being trained in God’s ways is a natural result of family life.

The love of God is able to do exceeding abundantly over what we can expect or even imagine, and He is able to restore anything that has been stolen or destroyed in a person’s life.. We are accepted in any condition. But after we are in the Kingdom, the Lord heals and trains us in His ways.

This is the purpose and function of this ministry.
THEREFORE:
LET US - lay aside every weight and the sin which doeth so easily beset us, and
LET US - run with patience,endurance, and perserverence the race that is set before us,
LET US - fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Heb 12: 1-2.
LET US - therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall ... Heb. 4:11.
Men’s Finishing School presently meets weekly Saturday 8:00-9:30 AM

The Saturday meeting includes teaching, fellowship, prayer and accountability relationship.
This group is not large, but it is producing fruit in the lives of all involved.
The atmosphere is casual, but real. Relationships develop here.
Men’s Finishing School has also begun to host a FELLOWSHIP MEAL on the third Sunday of every month immediatele following our regular Sunday Service. All the food , set-up, and clean-up is done by the Men of the church. There is no cost for this meal and “whosoever will” is invited to join at our table. This is the first of what will be several types of “hands-on” practical ministries that will be birthed out of this group. The meal was inspired by the account of the Church in Acts 2.

Acts 6:1-7
So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." …

…This proposal pleased the whole group….

… So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

Near the end of his earthly life, Paul said –“ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Tim 4:6-8 NIV

We all have our particular courses to run. My course is not yours and each course has been laid out by the Lord in His perfect plan and will for us. No matter where you are, or where you have been, its how you finish that counts, our goal is the prize of the Lord, entering into His Sabbath, and finishing well having mixed our faith with our actions according to His marvelous plans.
